This is a concern, therefore as the Scientific Committee we will
endeavor to understand the reasons for this, and create a strategy
to improve this area.
This has proved to be an important step in progressing education,
and ensuring that the industry has new and vibrant blood. Again, we
had excellent presentations from Academia, but we would like to
encourage more Universities to submit research papers and to
present at our conferences.
I was very excited and proud to see the work that Dr. Lester Davids
is doing on human skin growth, and the progress that they have
made on the treatment of burn patients is amazing.
The poster session which was created in 2014 and grew fairly well
was unfortunately not well supported in 2017. This is a concern,
therefore as the Scientific Committee we will endeavor to
understand the reasons for this, and create a strategy to improve
this area.
As requested from previous feedback, we added some Marketing
presentations, which were presented by Nielsen, as well as
Regulatory information relevant to the current state of affairs,
presented by the CTFA.
147 delegates attended the conference with a favourable surplus
being raised, which is required to improve the ability to further train
members and students, and also look at ways to enhance the
transfer of information, together striving for a professional industry.
The cocktail party was very well attended and allowed delegates
time to network as well as providing some glitz and glamour
entertainment.
The gala dinner was held at Montecasino and the theme was “Night
of a Thousand Lights”. I personally was not able to attend this
function, but have been informed that a good party was had by all.
I would like to thank Bridget for her continual dedication and hard
work, ensuring that the Conference and Gala Dinner is a success,
as well as the Scientific Committee for the time that you offer and the
extra mile that you all take to making this event is a success.
To the sponsors, without all your valuable support and sponsorship
the Society would not be able to grow and educate members further.
This would have a devastating impact on the industry and Cosmetic
Scientists in general. I am forever grateful for this support, and
appreciate the continual dedication to the Society and the industry.
