IFSCC Report 2016
2016 was an eventful year at the IFSCC . The US congress in Orlando was a great success and Amy Wyatt took up the reigns as President and our good friend Claudie Willemin became the new IFSCC editor . Roy Gardiner was re-elected as the Honorary Auditor of the IFSCC . A number of our members attended the Congress and voted on our behalf at the Council meeting . I thank them for their assistance .
During the year two countries in West Africa applied for membership to the IFSCC . This was good for Africa as previously South Africa was the only member country on the continent . As these two countries were going to be admitted to Zone 1 ( Europe ) it was going to cause inconsistencies as South Africa was in Zone 2 ( Asia ). Coschem had a council meeting and it was decided that we apply to the IFSCC to change Zones to that of other African countries . We now fall under Europe and will attend their meetings going forward . I would like to thank the Japanese Society for their support of South Africa and for their contribution to Zone 2 .
They unselfishly hosted the Zone 2 meetings and the zone secretariat .
KOSMET is a continually updated database purely and uniquely focussed on cosmetic science and is of great value to researchers and development chemists . A lot of effort has gone into this database and is freely available to our members .
I would urge you to read the IFSCC Newsletters , the IFSCC Magazine and to visit the IFSCC website . The magazine is part of the IFSCC website and is available at no cost to all Coschem members .
