year 7 county championships, jenner park
The Year 7 Girls' Athletics Championships was very successful for us. Many pupils competed in the competition.
In the 100m we had Isabella Lloyd who came third overall in the B final, followed by Sofia Vella in the 200m placing third overall in the A final, with a time of 29.5 seconds. Sofia also did the 800m along with Julia Topham, Sofia did extremly well in this race also as she pulled out iin first place, Julia also doing well at 31st place. In the 1500m we only only had one runner Klaudia Przychodzen who was 22nd overall, Klaudia was very brave to run that distance well done! In the hurdles I was the only runner from Corpus Christi -I came 5th in the A final with a time of 12.5secs. The relay was the last track event of the day- the relay team was very successful as they managed to come 4th in the A final. All the races were very exciting to watch, everyone was very suportive.
First off we had Sofia Vella and Carmen Esono in the high jump. The girls managed to come in the top 20, Sofia came joint 1st with a jump of 1.40m, Carmen came in at 16th with a jump of 1.15m. In the long jump competiton
we had Charlotte Copeland and Isabella Lloyd. Charlotte came 4th with a big jump of 3.76m. Not far off was Isabella with a jump of 3.43m- 11th place. In the shot put we had Ellie Fishlock in 5th place with a throw of 6.98m. I was also in shot put and came 4th with a throw of 7.36m. I was also in the discus in six place with not such good throw of 14.60m! We then had Caitlin Smith in the Javalin with a big distance of 15.57m. Overall the girls who competed did very well and was great at supporting each other, a big well done to everyone, congratulations!!

Congratulations to Sofia Vella who as well as becoming County 800m champion also came the joint Welsh U13 Champion at High Jump in Newport in June jumpinmg an impressive 1.40 metres - well done Sofia!
