sophie may, wales gymnastics
year 11
I started gymnastics at the age of 4 at Llanishen Leisure Centre. After about 2 years I was invited to Cardiff Central Youth Club where I stayed for about 7 years. During my time at CCYC, I completed all of my gymnastics grading – national and regional. In my final grade I came 3rd in Wales. I then went on to represent Wales in the British Finals where I came 17th overall.
After 7 years at CCYC, I moved to Phoenix Gymnastics Club. I currently train at Phoenix 5 days a week and compete for them about 5 times a year.
As well as doing gymnastics outside of school, I participate in school as well. Since I have been in Corpus Christi, I have taken part in every Gym and Dance Evening, performing both solo and group floor routines. I have also competed in all the school competitions. In the recent Tumble and Vault competition I came 1st in Cardiff and Vale U19 category and went on the Welsh Finals where I came 3rd in Wales as an individual and the Cardiff and Vale Team won!
In the future I plan to keep working hard and getting the most I can out of gymnastics!
