A sustainable future for children in South African townships Afrika Tikkun pioneers a different approach. Its model of developing children from “cradle to career” is achieved through an array of partnerships, which include government departments, NGOs and local community leadership. These partnerships, combined with corporate social investments, empower local communities to implement, operate and manage an integrated system that supports children born in poverty. Through years of daily support and skills development, the youth become capable of adding value to their lives and to the nation Passion, good governance and outcomes - these are the three factors that lie at the heart of Africa Tikkun’s philosophy of developing impoverished communities, and the elements that make the organisation successful in providing thousands of children with a hand up the ladder of life, rather than a handout.
