How domestic violence has been affected by pandemic

Context

In context, thanks to the quarantine. Many people were left unemployed, others had to do work and school at home, and still others remained as the head of household mothers who stayed at home. This implies that the families had to spend more time than normal. Since they had to begin to develop their daily lives inside the house where they would buy most of the day.

During the quarantine, although some families had fun, looking for activities and dinners to share. There is another side of the coin as well, where family violence was experienced.

• MinSalud will give 14 billion pesos to regional governments to guarantee shelter and food for female victims, at high risk of femicide, and their children.

• With 1,221 calls received reporting abuse during Mandatory Preventive Isolation, Line 155 registered an increase of 103%, compared to the same period last year.

• The Office of the Prosecutor reports 3027 complaints received by email during the quarantine period, 881 of which correspond to sexual crimes and 2,134 to domestic violence. (Vicepresidente de Colombia, 2020)
