Thanks to the marshals and everyone who set up today's RTV good start to the year. – Paul Kohler (via Facebook) Section Seven: Having seen the other group’s scores from the morning this was the section that appeared to be the trickiest one. And that’s just what it would prove to be, with Taryn, Ken, Simon Badge, Will, Ross, Steve, Mike and Luke Rickard all in the mix for the win at the start of the section. Ken was first to go and was the first to get caught on the cross axle at the four gate. Simon Badge, Amy, Will and Taryn Gay would all come unstuck at the nine gate. Luke would be another to get caught on the cross axle at the four gate, and with Mike picking up a two it would leave Steve Smerdon and Ross Lillicrap who after both getting clears left with scores tied with one section to go. David White and David Burley would be the other drivers to clear the section. Section Eight: it would come down to the final section to decide the winner, and it would come from this group. With but Steve and Ross driving well all day it was hard to see where they would be caught out, with a few of the LWB getting called a high score on what appeared to be a straight forward part making the others take note. Ross would be the first to take to the section, and after making sure he cleared it, left Steve the task of matching his score to stay in contention. Steve would duly go on and clear the section meaning that both drivers couldn’t be separated and would take a joint overall wins finishing on two points and 6 clears. The next lowest drivers were Ken, Antony Higgins and David Jeffery (no ‘s on end) who all finished on six. Kim Dobinson and Luke Rickard both finished on seven, the top ten places were taken up by Mike Clarke & Simon Wheeler on eight points and David White on Nine. Jess Jeffery would finish as the best lady after spending the day double driving husband David’s 80” special. Report by Aaron Lillicrap, Photos taken by Rebecca Pepperell.
