Cornwall & Devon Land Rover Club. The Club Mag spring 2014 | Page 21

The Monday saw a wetter day than had been seen on the other two days, which lead to a slippery comp course. The club’s normal speed freaks would all be out to play with several hoping to challenge for overall and class wins. Lee Newcombe in Class 3, had been setting times almost two minutes quicker than the other competitor in his class, until his land rover decided enough was enough and stopped working. In class 8, Jordan Shirley would take 3rd in class and 7th overall, and Chris Cumings would finish 5th overall and 3rd in class 9. Charity RTV – the 22nd & 23rd of June saw the Annual C&D Charity event held at Newnham Park and Hemerdon, once again sponsored by Brookwell Supplies. It also saw the biggest turn out since the event started with 24 teams from all over the country entered. The National’s winning team would again come out on top in the two day event with Dave White, Simon Badge & Ross Lillicrap finishing on a combined score of 77 points. Cornwall and Devon members would clean up with our teams winning both the LWB class and the Ladies Trophy. Steve Johnson, David Bruley & Neil Jackson took the LWB Class win finishing on 155 points and taking 5th overall. Emma White who drove Tony Powell’s 90, Leigh Jackson who is still in here first year of RTV driving and Jess Jeffery driving her husband’s SWB Special took the Ladies Trophy with 206 points and taking 18th overall. Fail of the weekend has to go to Chris Smith from the “Getting Dirty at 30” C&D team, who after competing with Will Francis & Chris Cuming, went out that night in Plymouth to celebrate a birthday and ended up having a few to many and had to pull out of competing on the Sunday. Top: Overall winners, Dave,Ross & Simon. Top left: Best ladies, Jess, Emma & Leigh. Bottom right: LWB Winners, David, Steve & Neil.
