Introducing Lee Hay who is responsible for the operation of the Food Cupboard. When the Cornerstone Foundation committed to opening a food pantry, Lee agreed to help establish the cupboard and to manage its operation. His biggest challenge is keeping enough food on the shelves for the rapidly growing list of families and households in need.

Lee is a retired educator, having been an English teacher at Manchester High School for over 20 years, an assistant superintendent and a superintendent of schools in three other Connecticut school districts. In addition, Lee was an adjunct instructor at the University of Connecticut and Boston College. Upon his first retirement, he became Director of Connecticut's Alternate Route to Certification for Teachers. He then retired again and is now a part-time Education Associate for the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents. Lee was named the 1983 National Teacher of the Year. He has also been a workshop presenter and keynote speaker in over 40 states and in several countries.

Lee is no stranger to giving of his time and talent. A strong believer in volunteerism, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Child Guidance Clinic in Manchester and currently serves as vice president of the board. He was a volunteer at the Hockanum Valley Food Pantry in Vernon for over six years and became the general manager of the pantry.

Cornerstone is so very grateful for Lee Hay and his service to our community.
