With Gibraltar already due to host the Small Island Games in 2019 which is expected to bring together over 3,000 athletes from 24 countires with 12 sports, the Commonwealth Youth Games would involve a lesser number with only 1,000 athletes from 71 countries and territories taking part in up to nine sports. Something which has made the CGF look at Gibraltar with in a positive way as a potential bidder. The Commonwealth Games Association had a first hand look at Gibraltar's facilities last week when a meeting held in Gibraltar brought together senior officials including Regional Vice Presidents from across the Commonwealth with additional participants visiting for relating committees such as the Sports and Developments committees.
