Lincoln could
risk expulsion
from Futsal
first division
Just twenty minutes before
the start of Saturday's round
of Futsal first division
matches, in which Pheonix
faced Lincoln, the league organisers received a not too
surprising call that Lincoln
could not field a full team.
This was the third consecutive time in which Lincoln
had failed to field a team,
forfeiting the points and now
facing possible sanctions
from the league.
Lincoln who on Saturday
only had five registered players under their name, after
losing a number of players in
January had until Monday to
find new players before risking further non-appearances.
The Futsal league will now
have to look at the possibility
of imposing sanctions in accordance to the regulations
in which any team forfeiting
three matches are liable to
expulsion.
As one official pointed out,
not only do we have people
preparing the pitches in time
for the matches, we have
teams arriving only to be told
there is no match, and officials turning up to officiate a
match who need to get paid
but there is no match. It is an
actual waste of time, money
and resources."
Lincoln's possible expulsion
would have a direct impact
on the league with a decision required to be made on
matches played and readjustments made in relation to
points and goal differences
already registered.
Lions also face a similar fate
after not fielding a team this
weekend, this not being the
first time they have forfeited
points.
