Netball Special
timed, sequence of exercises, saw the many
facets of the game required being practised
throughout. This was not just a warm up, it
was a routine which showed that the young
ladies were acting as a team. Mistakes
would be corrected from within their own
ranks, encouragement would come from
within their own ranks, guidance would
come from within their own ranks. The
coaches watched closely and only in the
rare occasions that required them giving
advise would they interrupt.
Five months of intensive training had
brought the team together as one, and the
effects were clear to see at the
Tercentenary.
Thos who had had the privilege to watch
from the sidelines commented, "I have seen
4th February 2016
national teams, and most other sports, but
netball seems to have it right. This is
probably the best organised, best disciplined
team I have seen in many years." The
description was echoed not by just the one,
but by quite a large number of people who
frequent the tercentenary sports hall and
have seen the team training.
In March the young ladies will come up
against Malta, Republic of Ireland and
Switzerland in the Challenge section of the
Netball Europe 17 Championships, which
will be held between the 4th and 6th March
at the Tercentenary Sports Hall.
The hosts, Gibraltar, will be defending their
title, won in Malta in the last Championships,
and are going to prove that it was not just a
one off.
