Betternot.rest
Interview with Neylor Zaurisio from Betternot.rest
What is Betternot.rest and how does it work?
A solution to a common problem. Betternot.rest is a Smart Alarm Clock that motivates the user to wake up on time, rewarding them with Bitcoin. If the user does not wake up at the specified time a small amount of Bitcoin, preconfigured by the user, would begin to leak into our system and at the end of the month over 90% of funds from these leaks would be divided among users who have managed to wake up at the scheduled time.
(All funds will be managed through a smart contract within Syscoin Blockchain, ensuring total security and transparency for our users.)
How will you make sure that this system will not be abused/automated by the user?
Our application is quite complex. All funds generated by the application will be managed through a Smart Contract within Syscoin's Blockchain, which transforms our project into a Decentralized Application (DApp), ensuring total transparency and security for our users and investors.
For the last 3 months, we investigated the use of native sensors on smartphones to be able to create an automatic alarm deactivation; it is with these small details that our product differentiates itself from the others, besides our concern with the user when creating a deactivation system designed by a specialist in the field of sleep science. Integrating science and technology to improve quality of life.
(Today Brazil is a world leader in the study of sleep, the largest institute dedicated to research in the world is located in the city of São Paulo.)
How did the idea for Betternot.rest come about?
I have experience with web solutions and mobile applications. 2 years ago, I started my studying Fintech, as the technology behind Bitcoin sparked my curiosity.
Over the years, I envisioned several possibilities of using Blockchain technology and after spending the last 4 months working on a product with a simple goal: "facilitate the adoption of cryptocurrency for non-users" we came with Betternot.rest.
In November 2016, we created the initial concept and after a collaboration with beta users we obtained the name of, Betternot.rest and began its work on a visual identity system as well as a crowdfunding campaign. During the development process, we added Alan Albuquerque to our team to design the user interface. Alan is an experienced professional Back-End developer who will bring our vision into reality.
At the time, there is a donate Bitcoin, Syscoin and Ethereum. button. What is the goal of this crowdfunding campaign?
The main goal with the crowdfunding campaign is to be able to promote the project and attract new investors.
The crowdfunding campaign was not created to deceive people to donate for my own benefit, I'm not promising money to anyone, I'm just promoting the project that I believe and I've been working on for some time. The users who help during the campaign will be supporting the project with a fair chance to be rewarded for it, since 20% of all donations will be split among the first 1,000 users who sign-up at the application launch. It is a DApp that will benefit all crypto-currency community and also help in Bitcoin’s adoption. My biggest responsibility is to build an application that will be useful and present in the everyday life of each user, for this to happen I will apply all the knowledge that I have acquired with over 10 years of career as a UI/UX Developer.
campaign on June 5th after separating 20% of the funds that will be split among the first users. Recently I hired a Back-End specialist that will assist me to build the API, that will integrate in a near future with Syscoin’s Javascript API, which is being developed by Dan Wasyluk and will be released soon. Unlike an ICO or other means of raising funds, we have decided to show our idea to the community, and we have had a good feedback so far, in addition to a large number of visits to our crowdfunding page, emails and shares in social networks, we also received our first donations.
Every donation, however big or small, has the same importance for us, our motivation is to know that the Bitcoin community is supporting our idea.”

What is Syscoin and why we decided to use their blockchain-based smart-contracts for project.
Syscoin is an open-source blockchain-based crypto-currency, managed by Blockchain Foundry Inc., a Canadian-based company created by the Syscoin team. Dan Wasyluk is the team manager of Syscoin and the CEO of Blockchain Foundry Inc.
Syscoin's smart contract implementation is unlike any other Blockchain offering. The recent pitfalls / risks of the non-hardened contracts were nefariously exploited (As you can see in The DAO case is only the beginning; theft and multiple forks eventually generated a loss of several million dollars). Syscoin’s hardened smart contracts are immutable and fixed and cannot be exploited like a turing-complete scripting platform such as Ethereum. These hardened contracts considerably reduce the chance of creating an “Ethereum Classic” scenario which happened when the Ethereum community rolled back the chain to unsuccessfully save the DAO funds.
Other features present in the latest 2.1 version of Syscoin's Blockchain is the identity, escrow and price-peg services which were also essential for us to be able to create our project with the UI / UX we wanted.
After a long search among various technologies in the market, we came to the conclusion that Syscoin was the best choice. At the time, we met with Dan Wasyluk and presented our idea. We not only received great feedback and suggestions from the entire Blockchain Foundry Inc. team but they have also agreed to provide their full support in publicizing our project. We plan to partner with Blockchain Foundry Inc. to create the necessary architecture and applications required within Syscoin's Blockchain to integrate with our API.
O que acontece a seguir? Algum update próximo?
We are building our API and soon we will announce our Product Design team.
