With grades 6-8 , Corbin Middle School houses approximately 665 students . We are unique in that each grade consists of two teams . The teaming concept not only allows students to feel part of an academic family but also assists teachers ’ planning time for content . When a rich curriculum is delivered in a family atmosphere , students feel safe , cared for , loved and are ready to learn .
In addition to the teaming concept , Corbin Middle fosters relationships through our Advisor / Advisee ( A & A ) program . We begin each day in this homeroom , where we explore Social Emotional Learning Curriculum , complete service learning projects , and participate in interest based clubs . A & A is an integral part of our curriculum at CMS because we believe relationships construct the foundation that allows optimum learning of content .
In our state of the art building , we offer a Gateway to Technology lab and an Introduction to Technology Lab . We utilize a 21st Century classroom experience that allows students to gain proficiency in technology and be ready to select a college and / or career pathway at Corbin High School . With cutting-edge technology as the vehicle , Corbin Middle seeks to immerse students in a collaborative setting where communication skills are honed and critical thinking skills are exhibited through innovative , problem solving tasks and projects .

Arts , as evidenced by a plethora of offerings in music , dance , art , media , technology , theater , and health / physical education . Our Exploratory classes allow students to discover interests and hidden talents . Exposing students to a variety of arts through active experiences , helps students prepare for specialization should they choose to do so in high school .
At Corbin Middle School , we have high expectations that are evidenced in the culture of our building . When you enter our building , you will always be met with a smile and a warm greeting . Students walk the halls with maturity and respect , picking up pencils and holding doors for each other . Teachers are always seen interacting positively with students , not because of any administrative expectation but rather because they chose to teach to impact lives , and they know a teacher ’ s impact is only as great as his or her ability to form relationships with students . You will see high expectations on our walls and in our morning messages . You will always see staff working hard to ensure their duties are performed to the best of their ability so that all students are taught , fed , encouraged , loved , and listened to every day . You might pass a student cleaning or a classmate giving a nervous new student a tour , easing her fears of the unknown . You will always see students smiling and enjoying school . It is our belief at CMS that all students can learn and all students will learn . Our purpose is to educate all students to high levels of academic performance while fostering growth in social-emotional behavior , thus enabling all students to achieve mastery of skills necessary to become effective members of society .
