Gabapentin] Consider prescribing p r e - medication to reduce stress a n d / o r p r o v i d e sedation for [Buprenorphine or Use stress-relieving pheromones +/- catnip spray at home and in the exam room. Have a feline-only exam room with hiding place that is easily accessible for staff. Ideally a feline- only waiting room as well. Train staff on stress-free restraint techniques - consider exam in carrier, on the floor, burrito technique (towel wrap), etc. Adapt to your patient’s needs. Suggest limiting feline visits to one cat only. Avoid bringing cat with other pets, children, etc. For stressed cats, suggest owners bring pet at a quieter hour of the day/ week to reduce stress of noise of other people, pets and hopefully reduce wait time in the busy waiting room area. Encourage owners to discuss the options above with DVM or trained/ experienced nurse before the visit. Optimal carrier: hard plastic, easily removed lid; towel with scent of home. Pet should be acclimated at home to the carrier. p
