However, one of the most challenging responsibilities of veterinary professionals is pain assessment. Our patients are non-verbal; therefore pain assessment must be performed by veterinary professionals and owners. Cats often present with behavioral changes noted by the owner. Upon examination, if pain is the source of behavior change assign a pain score, treat appropriately and reassess.
