Reef Health Index and Marine Managed Areas The National Reef Health Index (RHI) was 2.8 (out of 5) or ‘fair’. Coral cover was good (score=4), suggesting these reefs could support larger fish populations. Herbivorous fish were common (score=3), but moderate to small in size. Fleshy macroalgae (score=2) were abundant in areas without herbivory and could be reduced if herbivorous fish, especially parrotfish, were protected. Commercial fish biomass was low (score=2).
