Fresh Strawberry Granita DESSERT Contributed by Grae Arabasz Nuclear Medicine Technologist Servings: 4 Ingredients 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup warm water 2 tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice (I prefer lime) 3 cups sliced strawberries (plus some for garnish, if desired) Lemon or lime zest Method 1. Combine first three ingredients in a blender; process until sugar dissolves. 2. Add strawberries and juice; process the mixture until smooth. 3. Pour mixture into a 8-inch square baking dish. 4. Cover and freeze 1 hour until the mixture is icy around edges; stir well. 5. Cover and freeze 2 hours. 6. Remove mixture from freezer; let stand at room temperature 10 minutes. 7. Scrape entire mixture with a fork until fluffy. Top with garnish if desired. NOTE: Granita can be made the day before. Freezing times and additional mixing times will vary based on your freezer and the size of your dish. 84
