Georgia’s Entertainment Industry Investment Act grants qualified film and
television productions an income tax credit of up to 30% of approved in-state
costs associated with productions spending $500,000 or more.These financial
incentives along with an abundance of diverse locations, a talented workforce
of film production professionals, combined with local community assistance
and support have made it possible for the film and television production
industry to grow and flourish in Conyers/Rockdale County.
Conyers/Rockdale County offers film production companies everything
they need in a small geographic footprint, within the 30-mile zone
preferred by most major productions. Because time is money in film
and television production, this means more time filming and less time
traveling from location to location.
From blockbuster movie franchises like Fast and Furious to successful
major network television series like In the Heat of the Night, Dukes
of Hazzard,The Vampire Diaries,The Originals, Sleepy Hollow, and
brand new streaming television series “Stranger Things” and “Ozark”
from Netflix. Hollywood has come to our community in a big way.
Two of the industry’s giants, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox, both
have permanent production sound stages in Conyers, together leasing
more than 600,000 sq. ft. and employing more than 650 full time employees.
In 2015, Georgia was third in film production behind California and New York.
More than 248 productions were filmed in Georgia, with an economic impact of
$6 billion. In 2015, the City of Conyers and Rockdale County hosted 10 feature films and 7
television series productions filming on location in our community.This translated into an economic impact
of more than $12 million spent by film and production companies in Rockdale County in 2015. At year’s end of
2016, our community will have hosted 16 television series and at least 6 feature films, with an anticipated economic
benefit of more than $15 million spent in our community.
The Rockdale County Film Office provides access to film location resources including expedited permitting, available
lodging, skilled workforce, restaurants and retail, as well as rapid response to special requests.
Close cooperation between city and county governments, our school system, and local business owners ensures that
filming a production in Rockdale County just makes good business sense
