Welcome from the Student Government Association
Student Government Association officers at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic
Medicine provide their fellow students with a strong voice in matters affecting their medical
education and help engage the college with the greater Ohio University and osteopathic medical
communities. Each of the three Heritage College campuses elects its own slate of SGA officers, with
one person selected as the national president representative. The national president representative
serves as the college’s state and national representative to osteopathic medical organizations.
Congratulations, class of 2021. The road that each of you traveled to arrive at this moment in
time continues to amaze me; the road that each of you will travel over the course of the next
four years, and into your careers, will amaze you!
The white coat that each of you will receive today symbolizes your commitment to being part of
something bigger than yourself, as you strive to always put the patient first, and the beginning
of a lifelong journey in the field of medicine. The white coat that is worn today, and throughout
the remainder of your professional career, should always serve as a reminder of your professional
duties and your commitment toward upholding the values and obligations of our profession.
Congratulations on your success. May this mark the beginnings of a wonderful time as part of
the Heritage College family.
