John Adams, Thoughts on Government, 1776.
This pamphlet was originally published in Philadelphia and reprinted several months
later in Boston. Adams wrote the work partly in opposition to Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, in which Paine had argued in favor of a unicameral legislature and against
the separation of powers doctrine.
