The Diaphragm
The diaphragm is a barrier that is inserted into a woman,
and exists to block sperm from moving through the
cervix. This serves to try and prevent pregnancy.
Throughout history, many items have been used as
diaphragms such as leaves and sponges. However, a
more hygienic model was invented and became popular
in the 20th century. (Fpa.org.uk 2010)
