Emergency Contraception Pill
The emergency contraceptive pill is a
pill that is taken after sex if there's
been a chance of pregnancy. The pill
is only suitable for women who do not
want to get pregnant. Sometimes, if a
condom splits or if you've had unprotected sex with someone, you might
want to consider the emergency pill.
There are several on the market and
they work slightly differently but
ultimately they disallow any fertilised
egg from implanting. The longer you
wait to take the emergency pill the
less effective it is. Emergency contraceptive pills were launched in the U.K
in 2002. They more recently became
available to purchase over the counter. (Fpa.org.uk 2010)
