Each year during # NationalRecoveryMonth , @ GA _ Corrections staff and offenders celebrate recovery by bringing awareness to substance abuse treatments and mental health service resources . These programs are dedicated to assisting offenders in the recovery process .

GDC Headquarters held its 9th annual Fishing Rodeo this at Lake Camaru , and it was a blast ! More than 75 kids , along with their families participated in the event . This year , Norah Stonecypher reeled in the largest catch and tournament record at 11.4 pounds ! Thank you to all the families and GDC staff that made this a fun memory for all the kids !

A ceremony was held at Burruss Correctional Training Center for 70 offenders who recently obtained GED ’ s and various OJT ’ s , along with mentor / life coaching completions for the youthful offender programming implementation . The BCTC staff has continued to encourage and assist these offenders as they continue toward their goal of successful reentry . # bettertogether # goals
