We have good reason to believe that in the 1770s ,

this boy from China attended Sevenoaks School . His benefactor was John Frederick Sackville , 3rd Duke of Dorset , and his name was Huang Ya Dong . A portrait painted by Joshua Reynolds hangs at Knole House and the British Museum holds this engraving .
Today , Chinese nationals are still making their way here , as are students with roots in all these countries :
