SLOW IS BEAUTIFUL
Everybody (that is, every cricket fan of a certain age) remembers
Ian Botham smashing out 118 runs in the 1981 Ashes, hammering
Australia at Old Trafford. But slowly and steadily, over the course of two
innings, Chris Tavaré actually scored more. 29 more in fact. He turned that
match, before going on to tuck another 28 test matches under his belt.
Chris Tavaré went to school here (Class of 1973).
Now he teaches here: biology, hockey, netball,
and of course cricket.
