As a 17-year-old member of the Sevenoaks School Film Club, Paul Greengrass( OS 1973) saw the movie that shaped his journalistic, screen writing and film making careers.
“ Even watched twenty times over, The Battle of Algiers never loses its power; the real world in action graphically rendered through the artifice of film.”
Now famous for his signature use of the hand-held camera, Paul used the Super 8 in our Art Room to hone his skills, making animated horror films with old dolls, artists’ dummies and random classroom clutter.
Presumably, his box of film making tricks became a bit more sophisticated over time, as Paul went on to earn a CBE, win a few BAFTAs, and direct many a hit movie.
