A LANGUAGE SHARED

Imagine the thunder of war, the confusion of escape, and the struggle to rebuild in a strange, new land where no one speaks your language.
At Sevenoaks School, help was at hand.
Considering the plight of Ukrainian refugees arriving in Kent, sixth former Parsa Fouladi recognised the need to help them learn English fast – by harnessing the magic( and science) of music.
Musicality, he learned, is encoded in our genes and sparks neurobiological changes in the brain that facilitate the acquisition of language.
Fascinating stuff which, when mixed with a dose of Eminem-inspired rap, resulted in original recordings made by the refugees during some truly entertaining English language lessons!
