Delightful letter from delighted parent.
Oscar’ s third scholarship took him all the way to Los Angeles, USA.
My son just received his IB grade of 45, and I’ ve been trying to think of a way to thank the amazing staff at Sevenoaks School.
Oscar’ s journey began when he failed his Eleven Plus at the local primary. When he left, he was diagnosed with dyslexia. But determined to prove himself, he got art scholarships to prep school then Sevenoaks. We were amazed, but you saw his potential and he really began to believe in himself.
I’ m not one for academic results, I just want young people to fulfil their potential and grow in confidence. At your school, Oscar has done both.
I think you’ re creating something exceptional. Oscar says now that his experience made him unafraid of failure and taught him to be flexible, carry on regardless and find the very best in himself.
So Oscar’ s result today is a triumph for him and the school, especially Mrs Maynard from the Learning Support department, who has been by his side all the way, giving him the confidence and skills required to unlock that dyslexic brain of his.
Oscar will never forget Sevenoaks School and neither will I. I just wish I’ d gone there too!
