THEMEOVERCOME
When we talk about overcoming, it’s easy to picture some dramatic affair
where the protagonist sweats and bleeds to tread over mountains or cross
the finish line of a long marathon. And yes, that is a victory that warrants
pride. But overcoming can encompass any range of events, external or
internal. We’re not always perceptive to the idea that women we pass on
a daily basis are in the midst of overcoming. We don’t typically see others
overcoming self doubt, jealousy, or difficult choices. But to overcome is
still powerful, and if we can acknowledge this—if we can acknowledge
what we don’t know and stand together to validate others’ adversity—
then perhaps we will better overcome the struggles that haunt ourselves.
