A
Appropriated: Borrows elements such as visuals, concepts, and objects then
reinterprets the elements into new artwork.

Body Art: Uses extreme actions to push body to its physical limits. Tattoos and
piercings are not body art.

Contemporary Art: Art of the present; is constantly changing so there's no
unified interpretation of it.
Content: The theme or idea (includes context and concept).
Context: Based on external information. (ex, background of the artist, history of
the place).

Diorama: Glass covers it. A painted background with real, physical objects in
between it.

Embodying Time: Uses physical evidence and proof that an artwork. It can show
the evidence of the process of creating the art.
I
Identity: Can be related to gender and also be our cultural identity. Is situational.
You can also create another identity, an alter ego, and perform that identity.
Installations: Multiple elements set up in a physical space to create one single
artwork.
Interdisciplinary Visual Arts: (IVA) Defining characteristic in contemporary
art. Uses many forms and techniques in art instead of just one.

Land Art: Also known as earthworks; uses landscape as a material and is site
specific.

Objective Time: The actual time it takes.
