keeping a close ear on any legislative
movement as it may relate to the
bankruptcy practice.
Tara Twomey and Henry Sommer
continue to oversee the outstanding
advocacy work of NCBRC. NACBA
strongly supports NCBRC, and that
support has enabled NCBRC to file
many key amicus briefs supporting
debtors’ rights. Remember, you can
donate directly to NCBRC on its web
page; and, incrementally, you can
donate via the smile.amazon.com
program. Your donations are critical to
the ongoing success of NCBRC.
In looking forward, 2018 appears to
be a year of new opportunities for
NACBA. Early indications are that
bankruptcy filings are finally leveling
off, as opposed to dropping. It is
imperative, therefore, that NACBA be
positioned to support our membership
for the anticipated rise in filings, with
the best and most valuable consumer
bankruptcy education experience,
anywhere.
To that end, NACBA’s 26th Annual
Convention in Denver is scheduled for
April 19-22, 2018. We look forward
to reuniting with old friends and
experiencing the “hallway magic” that
cannot be replicated anywhere else.
We’ll also be happy to meet up with new
members, as well as those attending
the convention for the first time, or
perhaps not in a while. Be sure to join
us in Denver, as convention co-chairs
Jenny Doling and Ed Boltz, along with
our Event Director, Rachael Hodgen,
have lined up a fantastic event.
National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys
Winter 2018
NACBA is a dynamic organization.
Change is going to occur. I have heard
more than one person say “good
riddance” to 2017. Moving forward, our
job, as members, is to see that change
is for the betterment of NACBA, of
ou rselves, our practices and our
clients. To that end, we say “Educate,
Advocate, Litigate!”
