PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Judge-Designate Harner currently serves as the Associate Reporter to the Advisory Committee on the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure of the Judicial Conference of the United States. She also served as the Reporter to the ABI Commission to Study the Reform of Chapter 11, which issued its Final Report and Recommendations in December 2014. In March 2009 and April 2012, she received research grants from the ABI Endowment Fund to study the role of creditors’ committees in chapter 11 business bankruptcies and potential reforms to chapter 11, respectively. In addition, she has served as a member of the Dodd-Frank Study Working Group for the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
Judge-Designate Harner previously was in private practice in the business restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy and related transactional fields, most recently as a partner at the Chicago office of the international law firm Jones Day. Before joining that firm in 1996, she served as law clerk to the Honorable William T. Bodoh of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
She is an honors graduate of Boston College and was the valedictorian of her class at the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, where she served as the Executive Editor of the school’ s law journal.
Judge-Designate Harner will sit in the Bankruptcy Court ' s Baltimore Division. She will fill the vacancy created by the impending retirement of the Honorable James F. Schneider. The judges and the entire courthouse family congratulate Judge-Designate Harner on her appointment and look forward to welcoming her to the Court.
