NACBA Announcements NACBA Member Spotlight Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., has reappointed Jill A. Michaux to a second three-year term on the Judicial Conference A d v i s o r y Committee on Bankruptcy Rules. Michaux is a founding member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and served on the NACBA board of directors the first six years. She is currently a director of the National Consumer Bankruptcy Rights Center (NCBRC). She is active on the NACBA listservs and a frequent speaker at NACBA meetings. Michaux is board certified in consumer bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. She was first certified in 1993 and has been recertified since. She is past president of the Kansas Bar Association Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section and the Topeka Area Bankruptcy Council. She practices law with her husband, Mark W. Neis, in the Topeka firm of Neis & Michaux, P.A. B o s t o n , Massachusetts. The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2015 Pro Bono Publico awards. Central Division Award: Walter Oney, Oney Law Office, Fitchburg and Boston  is to be recognized for his dedication to pro bono representation of debtors in both bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings, exemplified by the large number of cases in which he has appeared. He is also to be recognized for his contributions in developing a software program, BKAssist, a bankruptcy petition and case management software product. This program has increased the number of lawyers who have been willing to take pro bono cases as he has made the program available free of charge to legal service agencies, law school clinical training programs and attorney pro bono volunteers. Eastern Division Award: Nina M. Parker, Parker & Associates, Winchester  is recognized for her long standing commitment to pro bono services in bankruptcy cases, including her passion for assisting, training, and mentoring new and experienced practitioners in representing debtors. She has been an indispensable resource to many legal services providers, including the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association and South Coastal Counties Legal Services and to volunteer attorneys who need guidance representing debtors. She has also volunteered at the Dana National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Winter 2015 Farber Cancer Institute where she advises patients and their families on their remedies for financial relief. Without doubt, her spirit of volunteerism and enthusiasm has inspired others to help those in need. The United States Bankruptcy Judges for the District of Massachusetts will present the awards on October15, 2015 at a ceremony at the United States Courthouse in Springfield, attended by attorneys who have rendered pro bono services in the past year. NACBA Partners with Google Maps The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys has teamed up with Google Maps to create the NACBA Member Map. Live on NACBA.org, potential clients using any connected device (desktop, laptop, and mobile) will be shown NACBA member firms near them right now. Using built-in GPS positioning technology, potential clients will be presented with NACBA member firms in their city and region. They will be able to tap the firm’s map markers to get contact information and driving directions to a NACBA Member office. As part of NACBA’s enhanced Membership Benefits, all NACBA members in good standing have basic contact info already listed on this state of the art mapping interface!
