The Ebrington Hotel project has garnered significant recognition by being shortlisted for both the Restoration Project of the Year and Commercial Project of the Year at the CEF 2024 Construction Excellence Awards .
The Ebrington Hotel project , led by McKelvey Construction , has transformed a historic military site into a luxurious fourstar hotel , combining heritage conservation with modern commercial development to create a new landmark for the city of Londonderry .
Located on the historic Ebrington Barracks site , which dates back to 1841 , the Ebrington Hotel represents a major step in the rejuvenation of one of Northern Ireland ’ s most iconic and historically significant locations . Ebrington Barracks , which played a key role in the city ’ s military past , had remained largely unused since the British Army vacated the site in 2003 .
Its transformation into a luxurious hotel is part of a broader regeneration scheme aimed at revitalising the waterfront area and integrating the site into the urban fabric of Londonderry .
