PROVIDING BEST IN CLASS VIBRATION ISOLATION AND ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE
Founded in 1959, Farrat has worked with architects, engineers and contractors on projects across the leisure, urban living, commercial, healthcare and education sectors, helping to address complex acoustic challenges through engineered vibration isolation solutions. From plant and mechanical equipment to entire floating floor systems, these solutions enable buildings to meet increasingly demanding acoustic performance requirements while supporting wider project objectives.
As cities and urban areas expand and evolve and quality of life improves, the need to protect people from groundborne and structure-borne noise and vibration increases. Farrat’ s engineers are on a mission to pride themselves in supporting developers, engineers and contractors deliver technically demanding acoustic projects, helping create quieter, more comfortable and higher-performing built environments.
Farrat offers four specialist floating floor systems designed to meet the diverse requirements of its customers: BowlFLOOR mainly for bowling alleys, CineFloor for cinemas, theatres and other performance spaces, LeisureFLOOR for gyms, fitness centres and leisure facilities, and MechFLOOR for plant rooms, mechanical equipment areas which can also be supported by Farrat’ s industrial vibration control solutions, all designed to reduce structureborne vibration and airborne sound transmission. In addition to its floating floor solutions, Farrat provides highperformance isolated wall systems through its Cine Range, including the CineWALL product, helping to create acoustically separated spaces across a wide range of applications.
A recent example is Farrat’ s involvement in the redevelopment of The Westbury Hotel in Mayfair, London. Farrat joined the project in June 2022, supplying specialist acoustic flooring for a scheme that excavated two new basement levels just 20mm from the Victoria Underground tunnel, added a new penthouse level, and extended the rear of the building to create more than 95 additional suites.
The Westbury Hotel project involved the complex task of merging four individual listed buildings into a single, unified luxury property. Because these structures are protected heritage assets, each came with strict conservation requirements including significant limitations on how much additional load their original frameworks could support.
Farrat installed their CineFLOOR acoustic floating floor system and formed part of the hotel’ s wider £ 600 million redevelopment, helping to transform the property into a worldclass luxury destination ahead of its St. Regis licensing, valued at £ 1.3 billion.
