Gettysburg's 150th year!

This year from july 1 - 3, 2013, as a nation, we will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the battle of gettysburg. many know this battle as the "turning point" of the Civil War. Much blood was shed on this battlefield all those years ago.

any time i enter the battlefield and tour its hallowed grounds I can sometimes see visions of what the war must have been like and the mass of dead bodies lying on the battlefield after those three crucial days of battle.

Father against son, brother against brother, friend against friend. this is not the kind of war that should have been fought nor should it ever be fought again. But, if you take a minute to think of where we are as a nation right now, are we not in a type of "civil war" at this time of our nation's history?

Father and son still contend against each other, brothers still contend one against the other and friends still cannot find it in their hearts to cross party lines in order to get the job done that our nation so desperately needs.

I would ask each and every one of you to set a time within the next couple of months to spend one day on these hallowed grounds and take in the reverence that can be found at this battlefield. Take time to think on where we were at that time, where we are now and where we can be and what you plan to do to change it!
