July 4th - "An American Holiday"
July 4th...Our American Heritage! Too many people do not remember or even understand the real reason for July 4th! It is sad really. Our most beloved holiday as a nation. Our forefathers fought to ensure that we, as the future generation, have the opportunity to have a country free from any kind of Tyranny and we all know that Tyranny can take many forms.
This is exactly why July 4th is so important. It is a key reminder of what our forefathers gave in order to ensure that we would have a future to enjoy. A future that they themselves would not even see yet they fought for it anyway! This is what we are to continue to protect and preserve today. If we do nothing and we sit back and watch injustice take over our nation then that is the kind of nation we will become.
Did you know that our forefathers were considered traitors in their times? What they did in 1776 was an act of treason. England had severe penalties against those who committed acts of treason. Today, if anyone did the same thing it would still be considered treason. Had our forefathers done today, what they did in 1776, in our nation they would still be considered traitors and tried for treason instead of being considered "Heroes"!
Is that not a sad concept to think about. Well, it is for me. I would still think of those men as "Heroes" today but, not our government. They would have been punished for going against the government. Though they also set the standard that government should not be something that "rules" over the people but, that it should be something that "represents" the people and their best interests through a voting process which is not fully followed today.
But, I am here today to tell you that there is still time and there is still hope. We can come back from this if we are willing to elect leaders who are willing to restore real constitutionality to our great nation. Now all we need is YOU if we are to make a real difference.
Let us work together and make the United States of America a place where our children and their children can work, play, learn and grow in such a way that it builds up our country and ensures a future that is fun and safe for all!
