The Battle of Gettysburg took place from July 1 through July 3 of 1863. Three gruesome and bloody days of constant battle between the Union and Confederate Armies. Many historians claim this battle to be the official "Turning Point" of the Civil War. Though the Battle of Gettysburg proved to be a Union Victory, it was not originally thought to have been won.

The Union Army was simply trying to stop or hold off the Confederates from moving forward more through Pennsylvania. Not only were they able to accomplish this astounding feat but, they were also able to win the battle and push the Confederate Army back south.

Even though the Union Army won the Battle of Gettysburg, the war still continued on for a while longer, still claiming lives on both sides. But, the question to ponder on in our age today is where would we be today, as a nation, had the Confederate Army won the Battle of Gettysburg and finally the war?

Would things be better, just different, or worse? Well, we really may never know. There are always those who think the Confederate Army should have won the war and we would have been better off while others believe we are better off today than we would have been. I truly feel that things happen for a reason and we are where we are today for a reason, yet to be determined!
