Gettysburg has one of the most hallowed grounds in our nation. Such a historic event that has taken place in our nation's history should serve as a life lesson as to what happens when a nation is divided instead of "One Nation Under God." Three days of battle and blood shed led to the "turning point" of the Civil War itself and eventually the turning point of where our nation would eventually go.

Today, in our day and age, we have a responsibility to remember these events as learning experiences for our nation so that history does not end up repeating itself. Our country has seen enough blood shed to last us a lifetime. We need no more bloodshed. What we really need is to learn from these experiences and to move forward together.

Many men, old and young, bond and free died on these grounds for a future that they would never see nor come to comprehend. Gettysburg is a great place to visit if you want to really feel the sacred nature of this historic place. Men and women alike gave their all in Gettysburg on those fateful days in 1863.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to be so close to the battlefield so that I can experience its holy nature anytime that I want. What a blessing! I can ony strongly encourage all of you to make the trip down to Gettysburg this year, even if it is not during the official anniversary, you really need to go this year!

If you have never experienced Gettysburg for yourself it is definitely a must see for the old and for the young. If you are like me and have seen Gettysburg a lot then, another visit will only get you that much more excited. So, I would say that you need to feel just how holy this land is and how important this battle was not only to the Civil War but, to the history of our nation and the way it would help to shape our future.

I do hope that you will choose to take the time to visit the grounds, reflect on the battle fought and lives lost and feel the real spirit of what it must have been like to fight so hard for that which you believe to be right.
