The brain is divided into two halves, the left and right sides. The two sides have opposite functions with the left side being analytical, processes step by step, and systematic, while the right side of the brain is creative, spontaneous, and imaginative. These days, most of us have underdeveloped right brains due to the educational system’s focus on the analytical part of the brain.

A well developed right brain can help us come up with creative solutions to problems from international relations to dealing with an ornery child. Although this current generation has mastered the use of technology at very young ages, it is previous generations, ones who had art, music, and dance classes who created the technology. Let us not forget the need for balance in life. The ability to be spontaneous, imaginative, and creative can also enhance the quality of one’s life.

Creative people tend to be more intelligent and curious than the average person. There are certain personality traits creative people possess that you can learn to develop and nurture. Someone who is creative tends to be flexible and easy going. They do not rattle easily and tend to take life in stride. They are motivated and tend to be very knowledgeable about their field of expertise. Risk takers by nature, they aren't afraid to try new things or, when fears begin to plague them, they plow ahead regardless. These are the people who bring about change in the world.

Creative genius is one of those rare commodities bestowed upon a blessed few at birth. However, creativity dwells within each of us and taking the time to nurture it will reap you many rewards.

Keep a Notebook

oCarry a small notebook throughout the day, and write down any new ideas that come to mind. For example, if you think of a new way to organize your work space or a new way to rearrange the furniture in your bedroom, write it down in your notebook. The right brain generates new ideas. Writing your ideas down teaches your brain that new ideas are important.

Find New Uses for Objects

oLook for new ways to use everyday objects. For example, an empty bottle could also be used as a vase, or a paper clip could serve as a hook. Thinking about things differently engages the right side of your brain so redefining common objects hones your creative skills and enhances
