These places are not traditionally associated with reggae music. Jalani told us of some of these programs. "One program we have is called Chance To Grow and it is where we bring in an artist to sit down in front of people, whether it be small children or recovering addicts; and share with them through music, through discussion, their thoughts, their spirit. We have found that the artist grow just as much as those that they are talking to because it confronts them the reality of, 'this is not a performance, you are here sharing'. "
"We have another component to the foundation called Stand Firm and it is a workshop for men; to teach men parenting skills... and discuss with them men communication issues. It is a place for men to build and grow and share. It is not a physical place... we hold workshops amongst men. Stand Firm because we are moving to build a house of the living."
Future ventures for the foundation include an event called the O.N.E. Day Festival (Our Nurturing Efforts) named after their first album. "We hope to raise money to support the children in the V.I. Kids coming from the V.I. are at such a
disadvantage, resources wise. The government does not invest in the youth, which leads to further things down the road. Idle youth and un-parented youth leads to trouble. It's not just the government's responsibility, but they're not doing their part so we are hoping to add to the resources and opportunities for the youth in the arts."
