If we want students to grow into discerning digital citizens, we must show them what shared responsibility looks like. That starts with us. And it starts with inviting families into not just the rules, but the reasons behind them, and holding ourselves accountable to the values we purport, the evidence that supports them, and the culture we strive to be for our students. •
Guido A. Sanchez is a New York-based educator and writer. A middle school teacher and principal at the Birch Wathen Lenox School in Manhattan, he is committed to programs, policies, and practices that support the healthy growth and development of all young people. CSEE Virtual Department Meetings are a great opportunity to connect with other educators to talk shop, share ideas, and troubleshoot. These periodic, one hour Zoom meetings are free for CSEE members, $ 100 for others for the school year.
