THE SERDAR FAMILY

THE SERDAR FAMILY

Three-Night Caribbean Cruise Disney Destiny
Q: Who traveled with you?
A: It was me, my husband Joe and our two kids, Harrison, 8, and Olivia, 6. These ages worked beautifully for this trip. There was always something for the kids to do, from active spaces to character experiences, yet as parents, we too were able to enjoy the ship.
Q: Did you work with a travel advisor?
A: Yes, working with a travel advisor made the entire experience easier from the start. She booked us a nonstop flight from Minneapolis to Fort Lauderdale and a prenight stay at a hotel close to the port in Fort Lauderdale. Arriving a day early gave us real peace of mind traveling with kids.
Q: What made the pre-cruise experience feel especially smooth?
A: Fort Lauderdale is incredibly convenient. The airport is only about 10 to 15 minutes from the port, and there are plenty of resortstyle hotels nearby. Thanks to our travel advisor’ s planning, our prenight felt like part of the vacation instead of another thing to manage.
Q: Were you celebrating something special or was this about family time?
A: This trip was all about quality time together. Our travel advisor helped us find great pricing since we were traveling during an off-peak period, which also meant a more relaxed atmosphere on board. It allowed us to focus on being together rather than planning around a big occasion.
Q: Was this your first cruise experience?
A: This was our family’ s second cruise( our first was on Royal Caribbean) so we felt much more confident this time around. Even so, everything felt new with a new ship, a new destination and the Destiny’ s heroes-and-villains theme, which appealed to our kids who love Marvel, while still offering plenty of classic Disney magic.
Q: How did your stateroom work for your family?
A: We stayed in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Veranda. Even though it was smaller than our previous room, it never felt tight. The split bathroom made mornings and evenings easier and the layout worked perfectly.
Q: What stood out about dining on board?
A: Disney’ s rotational dining system— guests are assigned a different dining room each night— was a highlight. We rotated through themed restaurants, but our servers followed us each night and quickly learned our preferences. The kids loved the playful details and there was enough entertainment to keep meals fun, while still offering a great dining experience for adults.
