What genre do you enjoy writing the most and why?
I love fantasy stories! I’ve always enjoyed that genre. When I was a kid my favorite story was “A
Neverending Story” by Michael Ende, maybe that’s why I also write fantasy books.
From where do you draw your inspiration?
It depends. Sometimes somebody just has to say a line and that inspires me. Sometimes it’s a song or
melody, which puts me into a certain mood. My own experiences can also inspire me.
Do you ever base your characters on real people in your life? Does it help your
characters come alive?
Yes, I did. One of the main characters in my book “The Huntress” is based on a real person. But I won’t
tell you who he is. Let’s just say, without him I couldn’t have written “The Huntress”. His
inspiration helped me to continue writing the story. And I would say that it really did help this character
to come alive.
Which is of your books is your favorite and why?
“The Huntress”, the complete series of books. In German I’ve published four parts so far, and
there’s more to come in the next year. That story is quite personal and I have had so much fun
writing the books! But I’ll always love my “baby”, my first fantasy novel, which was released in
2012, called “Alaspis – The Search for Eternity” (German version only).
Which of your books was the most fun to write and why?
Again, I have to say “The Huntress”. Writing “Alaspis” had been pretty hard for me, because of the
slightly sophisticated writing style and I knew I couldn’t do something like that again shortly after.
“The Huntress” is very different, it’s a fresh, cheeky story, but also has serious and emotional scenes in
it. I laughed a lot when I wrote it, but also sometimes had tears in my eyes.
Which of your characters is your favorite and why?
Oh, that’s a tough question. I love them all for different reasons. I like Ada, the huntress, as she is a
strong young woman, who doesn’t give up. I like Father Michael, her teacher and mentor, as he is so
disciplined, which I’m not, especially when it comes to chocolate. ;-) I like Barim, the king from
“Alaspis”, as he fights for his loved ones.
Do you form outlines and plan your stories or do you just write?
I just write. My way of working is quite chaotically. I also never put myself under pressure by saying:
“I have to write thousands of words today.” I write when I feel like it and am inspired. It has worked
for me, so I think I stick to it.

There are two, I’d say: the 4th part of “The Huntress”, which I published in German in October 2014,
and the English version of the first part of “The Huntress”. We, the translator, editor and I, worked 19
months on that. It’s been a long, long way, but I really wanted to do that, as “The Huntress” means so
much to me. Now it’s time to set it free. The release date is December 14th, my birthday.
