projects. These developments, in combination with the precision
tools offered, can greatly benefit production.
Currently in the works for precision agriculture at United Ag is
a series of weather stations to better track weather patterns within
the local area. This will increase the accuracy of soil temperature,
evapotranspiration, and growing degree days for producers and
agronomists within your co-op. Soil temperature readings will greatly
improve our planting timings to avoid multiple replants caused by
low temperatures. Evapotranspiration readings can greatly improve
irrigation timings and promote water conservations in all crops,
including turf grass. The tracking of growing degree day units on
individual fields will allow your agronomist, and you, to know when
key pests are peaking, when to target irrigation and timing of defoliation to maximize profitability and efficiency.
“The times are a-changin’,” and quickly, but, working together, they
do not have to be overwhelming. Your co-op is working nonstop to
aid with the adaptation to these amazing new technologies that help
you maximize your gains and minimize your risk by utilizing data
and scientific developments.
