he 2013 grain crop is nearly behind
us in terms of receiving. All the stops
were pulled out to handle the largest
on record crop for our combined locations.
United Ag handled 2,284,000 bushels of grain
sorghum, 4,117,000 bushels of corn, and
50,000 (and counting) bushels of soybeans. In
total, that is over 6,451,000 bushels of grain.
This is operating at nearly 130 percent of our
roughly 5 million bushel storage capacity. To
do this, we operated a tight dispatch system
where more than one million bushels were
shipped to port, 130,000 bushels were shipped
out of POV via railcars, and 300,000 bushels
were moved or delivered to offsite storage
locations. Also, for the second year, we used a
cotton warehouse as temporary flat storage to
keep grain rolling out of the fields.
Though the grain is out of the field, we still
have a heavy percentage of grain sorghum and
corn to market. The grain markets have taken
us on a roller coaster ride recently,
