Kentucky-Tennessee Students
Perform Above the National Norms
Adventist Education was created alongside the medical work to be a
preparation for young people to develop skills that would make them an invaluable
part of any community. Through their intelligence, diligence, kindness, and
skillful service, graduates from our schools would become beacons of blessings
no matter where they found themselves. Their abilities would be hallmarks of
excellence and would naturally lead them to positions of leadership and respect
in their communities.
Kentucky-Tennessee Education is continuing to train teachers and students
with this goal in mind. Our academic goals are not secondary to a solid relationship
with Jesus. They are an integral part of the holistic ideal of Adventist Education
as missionary training. We believe that every individual is a missionary called
to minister in any area God places them. Through studies like Value Genesis, it
is clear that our religious emphasis has positive results, students who attend our
schools are more likely to be active membe rs for the rest of their lives. Through
our research in the academic programs of Adventist Education it is also clear
that the longer students attend our schools the better they perform. Our students
perform far above their counterparts in both parochial and public schools on
standardized tests such as the, ITBS, SAT, and ACT.
Students from grades 3-12 have completed their ITBS, (Iowa Test of Basic
Skills Test) across the Conference and we are doing very well.
Here are eight highlights:
1. Our students’ average scores are 3 months to 3 years ahead of their cur-
rent grade level in grades 3-11.
2. Our students as a whole place above the average student in the nation
taking the ITBS.
3. Kentucky-Tennessee Conference students in 10th and 11th grade scored
in the top 90% of all students taking the ITBS in the nation; in all sub-
jects.
4. Kentucky-Tennessee Conference math scores continue to improve and
remain some of the highest in the region.
5. There is a strong correlation between the number of years a student
stays in the system and their improvement.
6. When the Singapore Math curriculum is followed and consistently used
there is a significant and cumulative improvement in math scores and
college readiness.
7. Kentucky-Tennessee Conference students are performing above the na-
tional average in Language and Science.
8. Kentucky-Tennessee Conference students are exceptional in Vocabu-
lary in all grades.

Connection
“They (students) need the very best of instruction and religious training. They need that
virtue that comes from God, added to knowledge, which will qualify them for trying and
responsible positions. The intellectual and spiritual growth should be as marked as the
development of the physical powers.” Sabbath-School Workers Jan. 1, 1889
Learn how to share Christ more
effectively in the New Year
A new release, Winning Ways to Witness, by David
Hartman shows how every believer can witness in his
or her own “armor” by exercising one of seven unique
witnessing styles (prayer, friendship, service, testimony,
invitation, conversation, and proclamation). The witnessing
styles also integrate with the unique faith journeys of the
individuals you’re witnessing to in order to nudge them
closer to Christ. This makes witnessing more comfortable
for everyone! Through a combination of engaging stories,
biblical illustrations, practical ideas, and reflection questions, Pastor Hartman
offers the liberating insight that soul winning can be an enjoyable process instead
of a frustrating guilt trip. The sharing questions at the end of each chapter make
this book especially useful as a small group resource or training curriculum. The
content of this book is designed to start a witnessing revolution in your church.
