Message From the President:
Fall has arrived
Happy fall – and welcome back to the exciting hustle and bustle of the school year. For many, it’s back
to campus, and we are excited to welcome you all across the state! It’s been a busy few months at
UCU, as we gear up for some exciting changes and announcements.
First, I’d like to use this opportunity to congratulate Deb White-Rideout on her promotion to Executive
Vice President of UCU. Many of you may have known Deb for some or all of her 13 years with UCU,
and have had the privilege of seeing first-hand her dedication to our members. We are proud to have
Deb as part of our executive leadership team and look forward to many more years. Thank you, Deb,
for all you do!
We are pleased to announce that we are offering UCU Wealth Management to members, available
through CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc. The program will kick off in the coming weeks and will be
available to all members at all locations, with our financial advisor based out of our headquarters in
Orono. This is a service many members have asked for over the years, and we are pleased to provide
this important piece of the puzzle when it comes to financial planning and reaching your goals.
Additionally, we’ve been updating and upgrading two of our branch locations in central Maine. Our
original stand-alone location, 139 Rangeley Road on the University of Maine campus, has received an
update to better serve our members. Last year, we embarked on this with one phase to update our teller
line and drive-up. This year, we’ve updated the entire lobby to have our team members and meeting
rooms closer to the lobby for members.
Updates at our 977 Union Street location in Bangor have just gotten underway as well. In the past few
weeks, exterior renovations have begun, including updated drive-up lanes featuring our UCU video
tellers, paving and more. In the coming months, we’ll embark on interior renovations that will liken it to
our updated look and feel at Rangeley Road. We are excited to share this fresh look of Union Street
with our members. When you next visit Union Street, stop by our new video teller machine and touch
the screen to complete a transaction with one of our friendly UCU video tellers based right here, in
Orono!
In the coming months, we will share messages about our campaign for Ending Hunger on Campus in
Maine. As you may recall, last year we launched a dedicated campaign to support the food pantries that
are on the University of Maine System campuses. That effort helped to raise awareness of the problem
of food insecurity on Maine campuses around the state, and raised $8,143 and food donations for the
campus food pantries. We are excited to continue this initiative for the second year and ask that you
please consider donating this season.
Best regards,
Matt
