Take the
Challenge
Research shows that attendance affects academic achievement, the path to graduation and future success. Garland ISD exists to provide an exceptional education to all students and believes in every one of them. It is that devotion that drives the district to challenge students and families to miss no more than four school days— excused or unexcused. Take the pledge. Attend school every day.
Scan the QR code to learn more about attendance, and share your pledge by using the hashtag # IWillAttend on Twitter.
LCHS selected as participant in free college tuition program
An exciting new opportunity is available to Lakeview Centennial High School students. The campus was selected to participate in Dallas County Promise, a Dallas County Community College District( DCCCD) Foundation effort that aims to increase college completion and produce a trained workforce. Just 31 schools in the county received an invitation to the program, with LCHS being the sole Garland ISD representative.
The initiative provides free tuition, mentoring and career pathways. Dallas County Promise covers the cost for up to 60 credit hours at any DCCCD campus. Participants continuing on to a bachelor’ s degree can receive scholarships at The University of North Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University.
This exceptional offer requires students to take three simple steps: pledge, apply and enroll. LCHS seniors must first submit a Promise Pledge on Dallas County Promise’ s website by Jan. 31. Then, Patriots need to complete a DCCCD application and submit a FAFSA or TASFA by March 15. Lastly, students should register for DCCCD’ s fall semester by July 31.

Throughout school, I had many inspiring teachers. At Lyles, my academic pentathlon teachers took us to NASA— sparking my interest in engineering. At Lakeview, Mrs. Newhouse introduced me to computer science, which led to my computer engineering degree from Texas A & M.
